Most impressive beach center of the Baltic area is officially opened in Riga

Riga, Latvia, December 7, 2009. In presence of the President of the Latvian Olympic Committee (LOC), Mr. Aldons Vrubļevskis, the President of the Latvian Volleyball Federation, Mr. Almers Ludviks, all leading mass media, news agencies, national and private TV Stations, the most impressive Beach Volleyball center of the Baltic area, named "Brazil", was opened this past Saturday, December 5.
The President of the Latvian Olympic Committee, apart from congratulating all parties involved in the realization of that facility, stressed out that the name of the Beach Volleyball center, "Brazil", has got a very special meaning, due to the fact that – after London 2012 – the next Summer Olympics will be staged in Rio de Janeiro and the Latvian players, including those that are still very young at the moment, will dispose of an excellent training facility for their preparation to the next Olympic Games.
During the opening ceremony, an exhibition match was staged featuring one of the best Latvian Beach Volleyball players, Olympian Aleksandrs Samoilovs, pairing young talent Laura Avena and playing against European Champion Inese Jursone who teamed up with Andris Krumins.
In another exhibition, this time of Beach Soccer, the players of the leading ice hockey club in Latvia, Dinamo Riga, competed with models selected from the fashion agency "Natalie". The guests had also the opportunity to get acquainted with an additional sport being performed on sand, namely Beach Tennis.
In the second part of the opening ceremony all Beach Volleyball fans could participate in an amateur tournament and try out the sandy courts of the sports center.
The “Brazil” center will be a meeting place for families, friends and colleagues. Children will be glad to enjoy a toy room and creative workshops. People will have the chance to spend their time there doing sports, enjoying the atmosphere of Brazil and walking on a real sandy beach. The center is a place featuring summertime all the year round, giving positive emotions, with temperatures going beyond 20 degrees, palm-trees, handsome, active and happy people. Brazil offers to rent 4 beach courts for various sports like volleyball, football, badminton and handball. Everyone has the opportunity to take part in training sessions with professional coaches in the local Beach Volleyball Academy. The center offers also the chance to organize seminars, various parties, events and press conferences.
