Poland wins EEVZA Girls' Youth Championships in Grodno

News from the Zonal Associations

Grodno, Belarus, August 24, 2009. This past weekend the Belarusian city of Grodno organized for the first time ever a high-level international Volleyball competition, namely the Girls’ Youth Championships for the countries affiliated to the Eastern European Volleyball Zonal Association (EEVZA). A total of six teams – i.e. Belarus, Russia, Poland, Azerbaijan, Latvia and Estonia – competed there in this event especially addressed for girls aged up to 15.
The matches staged during the tournament were so intriguing that it was necessary to calculate even the set point ratio to define the final classification. Finally the young ladies from Poland were crowned as the best team there in Grodno, with the silver medal going to the home team of Belarus and bronze being awarded to Russia.
