After having notched Club World Championship, TRENTINO vies for a second Champions League

News from the clubs

Trento, Italy, November 27, 2009. Defending champion TRENTINO BetClic started off its campaign in the 2009/2010 CEV Indesit Champions League this past Monday at the premises of Ferrari Incontri, this renowned wine producer being again one of the main sponsors of the team.
The titleholders were drawn this past June in Vienna in Pool A along with Dinamo MOSCOW of Russia, Jihostroj CESKE BUDEJOVICE of the Czech Republic and Greece’s Olympiacos PIRAEUS that will their very first opponent in the match slated for next December 2, 2009.
“To confirm the title in Europe for the second time in a row will be much harder than to clinch the trophy for the first time - says Bulgarian-born coach Radostin Stoytchev – because this year’s calendar is very packed and also because we are placed in a very difficult Pool. We ca not afford to miss any single match. Anyways I remain confident, we are ready to play: we have been preparing the premiere in this competition for three months and I see that all my players are really motivated”.
“We are convinced of our potential – confirms and international star Matey Kaziyski – and with such a good attitude we can play equally against any opponent. We are looking forward to playing the first matches to understand what our real level is. To play again in Moscow will be a great pleasure for me.”
The main sponsors that will support the defending champions were also presented during the press conference: these are namely Trentino S.p.A., i.e. the marketing agency of the local government, and the English web portal BetClic.
“We want to thank all our sponsors that believe in us and decided to support the team also for this second adventure in the CEV Indesit Champions League – says the General Manager Giuseppe Cormio - ; we will try once again to stand out to give the very best return for their image. Compared to the last year, the CEV Indesit Champions League starts with a couple of open issues. First, the venue of the Final Four is still to be decided. Secondly, one of the participating teams, actually one of those making it to the Playoffs, will have to organize the final. These two elements and our placement in a very difficult Pool let us understand that our campaign will be very hard”.
“Taking part in the CEV Indesit Champions League is always a great honour but a relevant organizational effort too – added Mrs. Iris Wintzek, who this year serves again as organizational director for the event -; we should not forget that apart from the players competing on the court, we have another team that works hardly to have everything prepared in the right way. Our proud is also that we have not received any sanctions from the CEV during the last season, so that shows that we have been working professionally and with the right dedication”.
To continue to stand out in Europe, TRENTINO BetClic during the summer has reinforced its team, with Brazilian setter Raphael (replacing Nikola Grbic) and Cuban spiker Osmany Juantorena (who is back to the court after three years) and middle blocker Andrea Sala. To offer larger alternatives to the Bulgarian coach, the society also signed a contract with young talent Tsvetan Sokolov (diagonal player from Bulgaria’s Marek Union Ivkoni DUPNITSA) and the French spiker Renaud Herpe, best receiver of the last CEV Cup with Panathinaikos ATHENS.
The main strengths of the team are still Bulgarian superstar Matey Kaziyski and Brazilian Leandro Vissotto, who in a few months bagged up the 2008/2009 CEV Indesit Champions League, the 2009 World League, the FIVB World Grand Champions Cup and the FIVB World Men's Club Volleyball Championship in Doha this past November 4.
