Swedish National Federation
Solna, Sweden, November 2, 2005.
In 2003 the Swedish men’s league possessed a mere ten international
players in the top league. Two years from then 21 international players
will try their luck as professionals in Sweden.
Out of the total 21 international transfers in 2005 four players are
from Canada and three originate from the USA. The most outstanding
players in the league this year will be 2.08 m tall Tim
Cooper from Canada, as well as the two setters Matthew Young
(Australia) and
Nobuatsu Tanaka (Japan).
”Our nation has been a white spot for foreign volleyball players for
many years”, stated Agneta Elmegard, vice president of the Swedish
Volleyball Federation, “I’m glad that this has changed now and
professional payers find Sweden attractive.”
