EUROPEAN MARATHON CONTINUES FOR VAKIFBANK GÜNES ISTANBUL
Women's Indesit European Champions League 2005/06
Istanbul, Turkey, October 19, 2005. Vakıfbank Günes ISTANBUL women’s team will face TENERIFE Marichal from Spain in the second match of the Indesit European Champions’ League 2005/2006.
This match will be played on Wednesday, 26th October 2005 at 16.00hrs local time in the Istanbul Haldun Alagas Sports Hall. The match will be broadcast on Turkısh TV Channel TRT.
ISTANBUL’s team manager Ms. Nalan Ural stated: “We have completed all preparations. Neslihan Demir will also be amongst our players besides Komıssarova from the Ukraine, Solipiwko from Poland, Alves Dos Santos from Brazil and all of the other players.” She added that her team will prove their importance in the Indesit European Champions’ League.
“We have been preparing well for the Champions’ League”, commented Vakifbank Günes ISTANBUL head coach Vlodimir Buzayev from the Ukraine, “Leading the Turkısh League we also strive to be successful in the Champions’ League”
In the third match, Vakifbank Günes ISTANBUL will face Pallavolo Sirio PERUGIA from Italy on 2nd November 2005.

Having won the first match away in Russia against Uralochka NTMK
EKATERINBURG (3:0) Foppapedretti BERGAMO now face Turkish Eczacibasi
ISTANBUL on Wednesday, 26th October 2005 at 20.30 hrs local time in the
“Palazzetto dello Sport” of Treviglio (ITA), Foppapedretti’s home base
for international matches.
Unfortunately, BERGAMO will have to miss out on Angelina Grün, Riikka Lehtonen as well as Jenny Barazza.
Referees of the match will be Zdravko Hranic (CRO) and Johannes Van der Velden (NED). RAISport Satellite will transmit the match live.

AZERRAIL BAKU AT HOME AGAINST PERUGIA

October 25, 2005. On Tuesday, 25th October 2005
a big trial is expecting Azerrail with the Italians from Perugia
who started the Indesit European Champions League with a victory.
Although it’s difficult for the team from BAKU to forget about
their first round defeat against Vakifbank Günes ISTANBUL, the team
coached by national team coach Faig Garayev will line up the same young
team as before. “I expect a good game from my players”, Garayev stated,
“Regardless of the final result it is important to demonstrate the game
which attracts volleyball fans all over Europe.”

URALOCHKA EKATERINBURG CHALLENGE LAS PALMAS
Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, October 25, 2005. Hotel Cantur LAS PALMAS will encounter the powerful Russian team from Uralochka EKATERINBURG in their second Indesit European Champions League match. The event will take place at the “Centro Insular de Deportes” on Tuesday, 25th October 2005 at 18.30hrs local time.
The Spanish team which beat Uralochka last year by 3:1 have defeated Portuguese CAT TROFA in the first round, hoping to add another home victory to their account. The Russians on the other hand will do everything possible to obtain their first success after the setback suffered last week against the defending champion Foppapedretti BERGAMO.
Uralochka, coached by Nikolai Karpol, arrived in Gran Canaria with ten of their twelve registered players. The two Cubans didn’t play the first round either. “We know the strength of our rival”, declared Hotel Cantur coach Sergio Camarero, “But we want to win in order to achieve two victories and get an advantage over the Russian team".
