CAR ACCIDENT OF POLISH NATIONAL TEAM PLAYER ENDED TRAGICALLY

Zagreb/Pula, September 17, 2005. Tragic news reached Zagreb (CRO), where the Final Round of the Women’s Indesit European Championship 2005 is taking place from 17th to 25th September 2005, on Friday, 16th September 2005 when the death of Polish national team player Arkadiusz Golas, who was only 24 years of age, was announced.
Arkadiusz GOLAS wore shirt number 16 during the Men's Indesit European Championship 2005 in Rome (ITA) for his team Poland

Following the successful performance of the Polish national men’s team during the World League 2005 in Belgrade (SCG) where they finished fourth overall, as well as during the Men’s Indesit European Championship 2005 in Rome finishing final fifth, the 2.01m tall middle blocker from Ostroleka (POL) was on his way to Italian club Lube MACERATA in view of preparing the club season with Lube MACERATA who is taking part in the CEV Cup 2005/06 starting from October 2005. The accident happened near Klagenfurt, Austria.

In the name of European volleyball the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) would like to express their deepest sympathy to the family of Arkadiusz Golas, as well as to the Polish Volleyball Federation and everyone who has shared valuable moments with one of Poland’s best volleyball players.
