VfB FRIEDRICHSHAFEN DREAMS OF PRESTIGIOUS EUROPEAN TITLE!
Men's Indesit European Champions' League 2004/05
Luxembourg, March 8, 2005. VfB FRIEDRICHSHAFEN (GER) is the first team to qualify for the Final Four of the Men’s Indesit European Champions’ League 2004/05 next to the organising team Iraklis THESSALONIKI (GRE), after having beaten their playoff opponent Noliko MAASEIK only thanks the coefficient points between the two playoff matches disputed!
Everyone in Friedrichshafen was deeply impressed by the battle on the court, the world class play, and the show around the game this evening. The 129 minutes of playing action were full of excitement for the Belgian and German fans, lasting right up until the last points! The German team qualified for the first time in club history for the Final Four of the Champions League, passing through the playoffs of the Indesit European Champions League with a 2:3 defeat in the return match. Thanks to a better coefficient of points between both playoff matches (213 winning points for FRIEDRICHSHAFEN against 212 winning points for Noliko MAASEIK), the Germans succeeded to qualify for the Final Four organised in Thessaloniki (GRE).
Head coach Stelian Moculescu and his team will now meet the
winner of the French battle between PARIS Volley and TOURS VB, who are
playing the deciding match this Wednesday night, in the semifinal round
in Thessaloniki on Saturday, 26 March 2005, whilst the opponent of the
organising team Iraklis will be decided in Sisley (ITA) on Thursday, 10
March 2005 when Italian Sisley TREVISO receives two-times defending
champion Lokomotiv BELGOROD at home.
