CHANGE OF PARTNERS WITHIN SWISS NATIONAL TEAMS
Swiss national teams
Luxembourg, September 22, 2004. The Swiss Beach Volleyball national team duos Martin Laciga/Paul Laciga and Sascha Heyer/Markus Egger have decided to swap partners in the attempt to compete more successfully during the 2005 season.Martin, the younger of the Laciga brothers, will team up with Markus Egger whilst Paul Laciga will try his luck on the professional Beach Tour with Sascha Heyer.
Playing together consecutively for four years now (since July 2000) the 2001 Swiss champions Heyer/Egger have collected several European and Swiss national titles as well as numerous international medals, currently holding eighth position in the FIVB world ranking. The FIVB World Tour Open in Rio de Janeiro from 23-26 September 2004 will be their last tournament this season. The current world number seven, the Lacigas, have been competing together successfully for more than ten years collecting three European Championship gold medals, one vice-world champion title, five tournament wins on the FIVB World Tour, as well as two fifth places in the Olympic Games.
