OLYMPIC GAMES DRAWING OF LOTS COMPLETED

Olympic Games 2004

Athens, Greece, June 7, 2004. The Drawing of Lots ceremony for the Olympic Games volleyball competition in Athens was held at the ATHOC headquarters on Monday determining the order of matches in the preliminary round of the men’s and women’s draw at the Peace and Friendship stadium from August 14-29. 

The women’s teams of Greece and Italy have both been drawn into Pool A together with world no. 3 Brazil, Japan, Korea, and Kenya, whilst Germany and Russia meet 2000 Olympic champions Cuba, world no. 1 China, the Dominican Republic, and the United States of America (world no. 2) in Pool B.
2000 Olympic men’s champion Serbia & Montenegro will be challenged by Greece, France, Poland, Argentina, and Tunisia in Pool A, leaving Italy (world no. 2), the Netherlands, and Russia to battle against world no. 1 Brazil, the United States, and Australia in Pool B.
