Next steps for the CEV!
The CEV - Executive Committee meeting in Riga
Luxembourg, 26th April 2004. Last weekend, the Executive Committee of the Confédération Européenne de Volleyball (CEV) gathered in Riga, capital of Latvia, in order to impart its future objectives, approving new regulations and competition format.
The Executive Committee of the CEV met in Riga, with the next organizer of the Boys’ Youth European Championships 2005, on the 23rd and 24thApril. In presence of Mr. Sausnitis, president of the Latvian Volleyball Federation, and Mr. Dolgopolov, vice-mayor of the city of Riga, the CEV’s president, Mr. Meyer, claimed to be very satisfied. “The major decisions to be taken in this meeting will strengthen the development of future competitions, especially those aimed at young people”, he stated. “The new regulations approved by the Executive Committee ensure significant support to the organizing federations. Hereby, the CEV has reacted to the need for the amending of competition rules, i.e. the increase to 12 teams per category, as well as to the direct demand for help towards youth competitions.”
The meeting also offered the opportunity to inspect the progress that has been made in the organization of the Boys’ Youth European Championships in Riga (LAT), and the Girls’ Youth European Championships, which will be held in Tallinn (EST). The respective presentations of the organizing teams highlighted the quality of preparation and the particular care devoted to the welcome of the expected 24 teams (12 in each category).
In addition to these points, following aspects have been raised by the CEV, regarding:
Indesit European Champions League 2004/05
