First Step Towards The Fourth Volleyball Zonal Association in Europe
EEVZA Zonal Association
Volleyball federations of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia and Ukraine have officially expressed their intention to found a new regional organization: Eastern European Volleyball Zonal Association (EEVZA). Representatives of the above mentioned countries (except for Azerbaijan, which entrusted Russia with its proxy) gathered on Monday in the capital city of Poland, Warsaw, and undersigned the Agreement of Intention. As stated in the document, EEVZA exclusive purpose is:
“…promotion and development of the volleyball sport in the above geographical area. It shall do all its power to contribute to the development of volleyball and beach-volley in all ages and categories, men and women, on the level of member Federations as well as on the level of the Association”.
A draft of EEVZA Statutes is another important outcome of the meeting held in Warsaw. This constitutional document has now to be accepted by the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) and the Confédération Européenne de Volleyball (CEV). A Foundation Meeting will follow shortly after an official recognition and the fourth Zonal Association will be formally set onto the volleyball map of Europe. Up to now the Balkan Volleyball Association (BVA), Middle European Volleyball Zonal Association (MEVZA) and North European Volleyball Zonal Association (NEVZA) are affiliated to CEV.
