Avital Selinger new national coach

New coach for Dutch women's national team

Avital SELINGER will become the new coach of the Dutch women’s national team and will therefore resign from his duties towards the Spanish club of Marichal TENERIFE.

The son of the renowned ex-national Dutch men’s coach Arie SELINGER is currently still working for the first women’s team of Tenerife, which is the unbeaten number one in the Spanish league. His work has only been crowned recently when his team won the Indesit European Champions League on 21st March. Before his job in Spain, the former setter worked as assistant coach of his father in Japan.

This mission for the Dutch who played 387 matches for his country between 1985 and 1992 is clear: ‘I´m going to do the job because Pro-Volley wants me. I would really like to contribute to something I experienced during my career as a national player. I would like to give back the feeling of success to the players, the organisation and the Dutch audience.’

At the beginning of May, after the Spanish playoffs, SELINGER will fly to Holland to sign his new contract within the frame of a press conference organised by Pro-Volley. His family will be looking forward to this new responsibility, since they stayed in the Netherlands during his assignment in Spain.
