Zagreb Volleyball Association lead the way in FUN for VolleyBALL /FUNBALL EU-funded project
News from the National Federations

Zagreb, Croatia, March 7, 2018. The Zagreb Volleyball Federation applied last year for funds from the Erasmus+ Sport programme with their “Building solid and healthy FUNdamentals for volleyBALL in the early age (6-9) group” project.
The Zagreb Volleyball Association are the project managers and they have joined forces with a number of partners for the delivery of this ambitious programme. The partners are the Faculty of Kinesiology from the University of Zagreb, HAOK Mladost (CRO), OD Šempeter (SLO), the Anderlini Volleyball School (ITA), VK Economy SPU Nitra (SVK) and Avignon Volley-Ball (FRA).  Together they have designed a project that should improve the work with children aged 6-9 and enable boys and girls to get involved in Volleyball with actions that match the developmental characteristics of this specific age group. The European Commission recognised the quality of the project and as a result, this will benefit from EU funds.

The main goal of the project is to analyse the current situation in the work with children aged 6-9 and all existing programmes in the partners’ countries in order to design and deliver a quality programme for girls and boys as well as a T2T (train the trainer) handbook. This will be available in the national language of all partners as well as in English for the general public to use.

“We believe that this project in the future will be beneficial to all Volleyball coaches working with children of this age and will greatly influence the development of quality athletes due to its research component,” the Zagreb Volleyball Association state. “First of all, it will enable children to love Volleyball through good quality work and one day to achieve good results in this sport.”

The project started on January 1, 2018 and the first meeting involving all partners took place on February 27, 2018 at the headquarters of the Zagreb Volleyball Association. All project members reviewed the Project Implementation Plan (PIP), which contains a clear description of the project outputs, budget and a timeline with each partner’s responsibilities, activities and expected results.

The meeting included an introduction to the administrative procedures relevant for the project implementation, and the scheduling of future meetings. Team members responsible for deliverables had a separate session as well.

All news and information on the project (working material, multimedia content, photos, and reports from Multiplier Sports Events) will be available on the official website of the project and on the official Facebook page as well: Funball - FUN for volleyball.
