European Coaches Commission pleased with first, high-energy meeting
News from the CEV

Luxembourg, December 20, 2017. The European Coaches Commission (ECOC) has just had its first meeting at the CEV headquarters in Luxembourg City following its re-establishment earlier this summer, with many interesting items on the agenda.

The Commission had a fruitful and giving debate around the CEV “Volleyball at School” project and the ECOC will now work to provide relevant generic knowledge to all National Federations and their coaches to take to all schools and their respective physical education teachers.

It will be done in a manner to ensure that differences in culture and demography are well taken care of, yet maintaining a high focus on Volleyball as an integral and natural part of the physical education in any school around Europe. The Commission has formed an ad-hoc working group in charge of elaborating on this in the coming months.

Another major point was the initiation of a new meeting place for coaches. At this stage, the working name for this is the European Coaches Convention. “We seek to establish an event which will resound among coaches around Europe and where they can meet in person,” said ECOC Secretary, Mr Thomas Bro-Rasmussen, “where they can get inspiration from experts, to receive and give knowledge about our profession while also forming new exciting networks and friendships.”

Other matters were how to form a platform connecting coaches. “We will try to establish a LinkedIn Coaches Volleyball Group. The choice of LinkedIn is to underline the professionalism and seriousness in which coaches conduct their daily jobs in clubs and on courts,” Bro-Rasmussen continued.

A natural mean of sharing information, the CEV Campus, was introduced and accepted very well by the Commission. The ECOC members see it as a good and effective mean of communication, narrowing down information around any matter to the exact. It will be a great tool for the Commission and any working groups to keep focus on the important issues at hand.

This first meeting showed an energetic and eager-to-work commission. All members are dedicated to their mission of connecting all coaches around Europe to share knowledge and information. With a simple aim: to recognise the job and hard efforts made by coaches and to have more people play Volleyball - on any surface.
