Obituary – Azerbaijan’s renowned coach Aleksandr Chervyakov (59)
News from the National Federations

Baku, Azerbaijan, August 4, 2017. It is with deep sadness that the Azerbaijan Volleyball Federation (AVF) inform the Volleyball family of the untimely passing of a prominent Volleyball figure, the renowned coach Aleksandr Chervyakov, who died on Thursday, August 3, 2017, shortly before turning 60.

The AVF and the entire Volleyball community mourn the loss of a real professional. Chervyakov was born in Baku on August 8, 1957. After graduating from the Baku Sports Academy, Chervyakov played in СSKA, i.e. the well-known Sports Club of the Army. His coaching career started in 1987 and while working with the national team of Azerbaijan, he participated in a number of European and World Championships. Chervyakov also worked with elite clubs from his home country such as Azerrail BAKU and Lokomotiv BAKU.

All members of Europe’s Volleyball family extend their sincere condolences to Mr Chervyakov’s family and friends.
