Volleyball festival involves hundreds of kids in Baku
2017 CEV Volleyball European Championship - Women

Baku, Azerbaijan, July 28, 2017. The Azerbaijan Volleyball Federation and the National Volleyball Development Centre organised on Friday a large Volleyball festival in Baku as the ‘Land of Fire’ is counting the days down to the start of the historic 2017 women’s EuroVolley this country will be hosting from September 22 to October 1, 2017. Many school pupils participated in the festival, thus accounting for a major Volleyball party.

Volleyball is one of the most popular sports in Azerbaijan and the first team sport in which this country achieved remarkable results on the international stage. As a result, many young people are interested in the game and possibly this festival will help nurture the next generation of Azerbaijani Volleyball players.

The players of the national team attended the festival as well, thus meeting with their fans and sharing feelings and expectations ahead of the EuroVolley. All participants enjoyed the friendly atmosphere of the event and of course engaged in playing their favourite game at Heydar Aliyev Park, just nearby the iconic Heydar Aliyev Centre, which last November hosted the Drawing of Lots for the 2017 women’s EuroVolley.

This action involving school pupils will help further promote the historic sporting event that Azerbaijan and Georgia will be co-organising in the fall of 2017 and on top of it will lay the cornerstone for a lasting legacy resulting from the EuroVolley when it comes to the long-term development of Volleyball at the grassroots level.
