KV Luboteni celebrate second triumph in Kosovo men’s national cup
News from the National Federations

Prishtina, Kosovo, April 1, 2017. KV Luboteni FERIZAJ are the winners of the 2016-2017 men’s national cup of Kosovo following their comprehensive 3-0 victory (25-23, 25-17, 25-20) over KV PRISHTINA Volley in the final. This victory accounts for the second national cup triumph for KV Luboteni.

The match was highly anticipated since it featured the two main forces this season in domestic competitions and it lived up to the expectations since KV Luboteni emerged victorious only at the end of a very close first set (25-23). KV Luboteni broke away in the second half of the second set and this resulted in a far more compelling 25-17 win for the team from Kosovo’s third largest city. KV PRISHTINA Volley attempted a comeback in the third set, putting up a fight in order to avoid a heavy loss in three sets. However, they did not quite succeed in achieving their goal and even though the score remained close up to the 20-point mark, KV Luboteni showed much resilience to shape up a 25-20 win to seal a 3-0 victory and rejoice with the trophy.

As a result, KV Luboteni FERIZAJ secured a spot to represent Kosovo in the next edition of the European Cups after earlier this season they made their debut in the 2017 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup, losing twice to Israel’s Maccabi TEL-AVIV.

KV Luboteni and KV PRISHTINA Volley will be back in action on Sunday in the semis of the national league; KV Luboteni will host Drenica R&Rukolli SKENDERAJ whereas KV PRISHTINA Volley will play reigning national champions KV PËJA.
