National Olympic Committee and Volleyball Federation of Former Y.R. of Macedonia join forces to further grow the game in the Balkan country
News from the National Federations

Skopje, Former Y.R. of Macedonia, November 10, 2016. An important meeting relating to the future of Volleyball and Beach Volleyball was held on Wednesday in Skopje at the premises of the Olympic Committee of the Former Y.R. of Macedonia (MOK). The highest-ranking officials representing the Volleyball Federation of the Balkan country enjoyed a unique opportunity to present their strategic vision “Volleyball in Macedonia 2016-2024” to the MOK leaders.

It was agreed that the MOK will be supporting the Macedonian men’s senior national team in the qualification process to the 2019 CEV Volleyball European Championships – where participation in the Final Round will be open to 24 teams – as well as in their participation in the 2018 edition of the Mediterranean Games set to take place in Tarragona, Spain.

The Volleyball Federation of the Former Y.R. of Macedonia and the MOK will be working closely together to bring Volleyball back to the ‘old glory’ days – and a leading role in this sense will be played by some regional centres that did produce most of the country’s talents in the past but were shut down to economic and financial constraints.

The representatives of the MOK acknowledged also the efforts made by the country’s Volleyball governing body to promote and develop Beach Volleyball in the Former Y.R. of Macedonia, also by hosting CEV and BVA events. The country’s capital Skopje played host to a CEV men’s Satellite in 2015 and to a women’s tournament of the same status earlier this summer. The two parties have agreed to join forces and work closely together as there is room for improvement and a lot of potential for the development of Beach Volleyball in the Balkan country in the years ahead.
