Coaches workshop crowned with success in Ukraine with as many as 32 attendees
News from the National Federations

Kyiv, Ukraine, November 1, 2016. A seminar / workshop for Beach Volleyball coaches was held in the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv from October 28 to 30. The event was organised for the first time by the Beach Volleyball Commission of the Ukrainian Volleyball Federation (UVF) in order to further develop the skills of the country’s coaches.

The workshop was organised and chaired by the President of the UVF Beach Volleyball Commission, Mr Valerii Zadorozhnyi together with the coach of the Ukrainian Beach Volleyball national team, Mr Oleksiy Kulinich. UVF Beach Volleyball Commission members Sergey Tymchak and Anzhela Zinchenko were involved in the delivery of the workshop as well together with UVF Beach Volleyball Coordinator, Mr Oleksandr Samsonyuk.

The workshop included a theoretical and a practical session. Mr Kulinich made the attendees familiar with the latest trends in the physical preparation of Beach Volleyball players before moving on to the execution of some specific drills designed to improve the players’ technical skills as well as their interaction and chemistry while performing together on sand.

Mr Tymchak shared his extended knowledge from working with youth players and also from the topics discussed at the Coaching Seminar organised earlier this summer by the CEV in conjunction with the U18 European Championships in Brno. Mrs Zinchenko put an emphasis on the psychological preparation of youth players which is just as equally important to help them deliver to the best of their abilities. After that, Mr Kulinich showed videos featuring some of the best Ukrainian Beach Volleyball teams and analysed their technical and tactical performance as well as all aspects related to their coordination.

Mr Samsonyuk briefed the attendees on the existing national and international competitions, as well as on the way players are being coached and train abroad.

Finally, Mr Zadorozhnyi delivered a speech focussing on the current activities of the UVF Beach Volleyball Commission as well as on future plans.

An exhibition tournament involving junior players was organised on the final day of the workshop where all attendees could test and apply the theoretical knowledge they had previously acquired, with an emphasis being put on technical and tactical aspects of the game and their implementation during matches.

As many as 32 coaches from 17 cities representing nine regions received certificates of attendance at the end of the workshop. It should be noted that in addition to some experienced coaches, many real ‘beginners’ were involved as well, thus starting to develop their skills and taking the first steps of their adventure in Beach Volleyball.

UVF Beach Volleyball Commission chairman Valerii Zadorozhnyi stressed that the workshop was just the first of a number such initiatives to be organised by his Commission in close cooperation with the Ukrainian Volleyball Federation.
