Record-breaking participation for CEV Youth Summer Festival in Kyiv
News from the National Federations

Kyiv, Ukraine, September 19, 2016. A CEV Youth Summer Festival was held earlier this month in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv in conjunction with the international tournament named after Yurii Zatvornytskyi. As many as 195 teams took part in the event, thus setting an all-time record for a mass-participation tournament in Ukraine. The matches contested by teams in the U14, U16 and U18 age categories were all played at Gidropark from September 9 to 11.

Apart from the many teams that travelled to Kyiv from almost every single Ukrainian region, there was also international participation since a number of players from Belarus joined the tournament as well – and they praised the quality of the organisation and assured they are most likely to return next year as well.

The Kyiv Open Beach Volleyball Cup named after Yurii Zatvornytskyi was organised for the fifth straight year – and for the third year in a row this was combined with a CEV Youth Summer Festival. The number of participants, fans and guests keeps growing with each edition as the interest in Beach Volleyball grows as well across the whole of Ukraine.

The main goal is to make sure as many children as possible familiarise with the sport, play the game and have fun while promoting a healthy lifestyle as well. The organisers of the tournament were the Kyiv Volleyball Federation, the Ukrainian Volleyball Federation and the Kyiv Volleyball Development Foundation named after Yurii Zatvornytskyi.
