Budvanska Rivijera fully focused on CL debut
2015 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Men

Budva, Montenegro, November 1, 2014. Budvanska Rivijera BUDVA are just about to make their debut in the 2015 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Men where on Tuesday they will open the programme of the League Round playing Poland’s Asseco Resovia RZESZOW at Podpromie sports hall.

A press conference was organised in Budva only a couple of days away from that match with head coach Slobodan Boskan – who this summer steered Montenegro’s national team to a historic gold medal in the CEV Volleyball European League – addressing the media together with team captain Vojin Cacic and Yosleyder Cala Gerardo.

“Since the match with Asseco Resovia is the first of the season, I think that it is difficult to predict the final result,” Boskan said. “Resovia is a great team and they perform very strong especially in their home matches. We know that they started their national league winning seven matches in a row and therefore there is a good ambiance there on and off the court. They are certainly very excited before their first match in this year’s CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League. However, we also have our qualities. I am satisfied with the way the preparations went so far and with what I have seen in our daily practices. We have a good team and it will be important to show our character. Without that it is going to be difficult against any opponent. I am confident that we will show it and we will play a good match. I think that the chances to win are equal.”

Team captain Vojin Cacic added: “Resovia is the favourite in our Pool but this does not mean anything, because last year we beat them twice. I think that we have a very good team and we played a few good friendly matches, though probably not at the same level as they play in their national league. These matches were nevertheless a good test for us. We know that the arena will be sold-out like it was already last year. We have to be united as a team, play with heart and only this way we can expect to win the match. We are focused and our attention is only directed to the upcoming match with Resovia. After that we will have our first home match here in Budva with BERLIN Recycling Volleys and we want to show that we can perform well also before our fans.”

The Cuban-born star of Budvanska Rivijera Yosleyder Cala Gerardo said: “We know that Resovia has been playing well and achieving good results both in their national league as well as in the CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League for a number of years already. We have to be united and keep on working hard. This is the only way we can be successful against the strong opponents we have in our Pool. The first match will show where we stand right now and if our preparations for this season opener went well. The first match of the season is always very important and we will do our best to win and start this campaign in the best way.”
