Albania’s youngsters have a great time at CEV Youth Summer Festival
News from the National Federations
Tirana, Albania, August 5, 2014. Last Friday, August 1, a CEV Youth Beach Volleyball Summer Festival was organised for the first time in Albania. The event was held at Divjaka Beach, where more than 100 young boys and girls came together to play Beach Volleyball and spend some 12 hours all together, having fun and discovering what this sport is all about. Divjaka is a small municipality in western Albania which is known for its forests and marvellous sandy beach.
The competition was split down into different age groups, with tournaments for U12, U14, U16, and U18 players representing different cities from across Albania as well as from some of the neighbouring countries. The first matches were played at 9 am and actions continued all the way through until 10 pm as the boys and girls had a great time there on the beach.
Upon completion of the tournament, the Secretary General of the Albanian Volleyball Federation, Mr. Leonard Tase, said: “It was a great experience for all of us and especially for these young boys and girls who are just fond of Volleyball and got to discover Beach Volleyball as well. We would like to thank CEV for their support and assistance in the organisation of this festival. We want to follow this first action with more events of the same calibre, even more after the terrific success of this inaugural Youth Summer Festival. After assessing the outcome of this tournament and looking at the great participation of our youngsters, we are confident that the future of Beach Volleyball here in Albania looks as bright as ever.”
