News from the National Federations

Yerevan, Armenia, July 16, 2014. The newest member of the Eastern European Volleyball Zonal Association (EEVZA) celebrated its newfound status by launching its new development initiative “Street Volley 2014”. The capital city of Yerevan saw 12 teams with over 150 children playing Volleyball; some for the very first time playing in a safe environment, supervised by fully trained Volleyball Coaches.

The team of Arabkir in a close fought final, beating Avan 2-1, won the competition. The Armenian Volleyball Federation also issued best player awards.

As Armenia begin to increase their development activity CEV President André Meyer enthused: “Having recently been accepted as a member of EEVZA, it is very rewarding to see the Armenian Federation begin their new approach to develop Volleyball and Beach Volleyball with initiatives such as today’s held in the capital city. This is doubly exciting as this weekend Armenia host their first CEV Youth Beach Volleyball Summer Festival on the beach of Sevan.”

To assist the development of Beach Volleyball in Armenia the CEV in cooperation with its official ball supplier Mikasa have provided Armenia with a large quantity of unique CEV Summer Festival branded Beach Volleyballs and Mikasa nets.
