Belgrade, Serbia, July 7, 2014. The final of a youth tournament with 8 teams participating united the youngest volleyball players and their idols from the Serbia’s men’s national volleyball team at Nikola Pasic square in Belgrade. After the official matches, the players from the national team gave away t-shirts, uniforms, volleyballs, hats, and special gifts prepared in cooperation with Vip mobile company, general sponsor of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia.
This way, after the gathering at Liberty Square in Novi Sad a week ago, the Volleyball Federation of Serbia continued with the project of social awareness, now called Volleyball Connects at City Squares.
The citizens of Belgrade cheered on, when the complete men’s national team of Serbia arrived at the Nikola Pasic square. This happening was officially attended by Slobodan Milosevic, Secretary General of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia, Jan Hronek, CEV Vice President and FIVB World League Supervisor, international referees Ebrahim Alii Jaffar from Bahrain and Taufik Budaiya from Tunisia and Zoran Avramovic, Marketing Director at the Volleyball Federation of Serbia.
“We are finally in Belgrade, on connection with a very important World League match. This project demonstrates that volleyball is really a special kind of sport. You know that right now decisive matches of the soccer World Cup in Brazil are being played, there is also the Wimbledon tennis tournament going on, but this large crowd of children chose to be here instead. This says a lot. We are really proud of them and of our men’s team which supports these actions whenever possible,” said Zoran Avramovic.
“We have been attending this kind of events for several years now, and it is really a pleasure for us. We are finally in Belgrade, after being in the cities of Nis and Novi Sad on previous occasions. These kids are great. They are doing their best to be like us, which will hopefully happen one day. We are here to support them,” added Dragan Stankovic, team captain of Serbia.
