Charlotte Leys says SOPOT is still determined to fight
News from the clubs

Sopot, Poland, January 17, 2014. “I am a bit disappointed with that score” says Atom Trefl wing-spiker Charlotte Leys referring to the 0:3 home defeat that SOPOT suffered Wednesday to Turkey’s Eczacibasi VitrA ISTANBUL in the Playoffs 12 of the 2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Women. “We did not perform well and it is a pity especially since our opponent did not look as strong as we expected it to be.”
Atom Trefl SOPOT performed well below the expectations of their fans. “As we were leading 16:12 in the third set, we thought that everything would continue just fine up to the end, we would win the set and also the next one to call for the tie-break” Leys recalls. “We eventually lost that game in straight sets and next week we will have a very difficult task to beat Eczacibasi in Istanbul. I am a bit disappointed with our performance: we should have finished more actions and showed more determination to fight.”

There are rumors that SOPOT lost that game even before it got started, already in the locker room but Leys disagrees with this scenario. “I think that maybe it has something to do with our tiredness. Everyone should realize that only two weeks ago some of us played at the World Championship qualifiers” she explains.

Even though they lost in straight sets on Wednesday, the Atomic girls do not lose their spirit: “We must play and take it point after point and only then we will have a chance to find our rhythm. We are definitely ready for a tough game there in Istanbul. Finally the most important thing is to be motivated and determined to fight. I believe that in Turkey we will play better than we did in Sopot. I do not care if we lose again in the end. I want to be well prepared and make sure we show our best Volleyball” she concludes.
