Beach Center in Goteborg to host Continental Tour event through coming weekend
News from the Zonal Associations
Goteborg, Sweden, October 2, 2013. This coming weekend the Beach Center in Goteborg, Sweden’s second largest city, will play host to an international indoor Beach Volleyball tournament gathering teams from four countries of the North European Zonal Volleyball Association (NEVZA), i.e. Sweden, Denmark, Finland, and Norway. The players, the fans as well as the local organizers can’t wait for the coming weekend to come as the tournament was recently included on the 2013 CEV Continental Tour.
The Beach Center in Goteborg is the world’s biggest indoor arena (see picture by Magnus Egger) with 16 courts all filled up with white sand. 42 teams are set to compete there through this coming weekend, including the home heroines Nina Grawender and Karin Lundqvist, who in late August won the NEVZA Championship held in Oslo, Norway. Nina Grawender is a member of the local Beach Volleyball club in Goteborg and for this reason she is evidently very much looking forward the coming weekend. “I do not have that often the chance to play in my home town so I am just thrilled” she says. “My friends as well as my family will be there on the stands and this makes me even more motivated to deliver a good performance. The Beach Center here in Goteborg is the best indoor arena I have ever been to” she continues.
A representative of the local Beach Volleyball club from Goteborg, Gustav Svensson, adds: “Since a very long time we have been planning and wanting to stage an international tournament here. It feels great to be able to achieve this goal right now. We hope the audience will be inspired by the players and by world-class Beach Volleyball matches. We will set up a splendid centre court and get the right music to create a relaxing atmosphere”.
