Sopot can't wait for DOL and wants to avoid death group
News from the clubs

Sopot, Poland, June 27, 2013. Atom Trefl SOPOT will participate for the third consecutive year in the CEV Volleyball Champions League and the fans can’t wait for the results of the DOL coming up on Friday night in Vienna. „The CEV Volleyball Champions League is for me a very important competition to see where you stand by taking on the best teams and coaches in the world” says head coach Teun Buijs who last year was at the helm of Germany’s SCHWERINER SC losing in the Playoffs 12 to Italy’s Unendo Yamamay BUSTO ARSIZIO.
„This year we want to do even better but much depends on the results of the DOL. Of course the strongest teams are those from Turkey, Russia and Azerbaijan, but we shall not forget that the Polish league is one of the best out there too” Buijs continues. The club has organized a special contest for the fans in conjunction with the DOL as they are invited to guess the names of the teams that will be drawn in the Pool of Atom Trefl.
„Personally I bet we will get Galatasaray Daikin ISTANBUL, SCHWERINER SC and Unendo Yamamay BUSTO ARSIZIO will be drawn in our group” club President Roman Szczepan Kniter says. „Last year Galatasaray played below their expectations and I think they will be very motivated to show that they are a good team. They will be hungry for success. The next couple of teams would be good too though not for our coach. He would play against his previous club from Germany while his daughter is playing in Italy for BUSTO ARSIZIO now”.
The Polish media would like to get SCHWERINER SC and Unendo Yamamay too, but also Agel PROSTEJOV and Volero ZURICH, not to forget Vakifbank ISTANBUL, the winner of the past edition. A death group would include one team from Turkey, one from Azerbaijan and last year’s bronze medalists Unendo Yamamay BUSTO ARSIZIO. „Generally there are no teams that I want to avoid. The only thing is that I do not want to be in a death group” concludes Buijs.
