Turkey keeps immaculate record at Women's U20 World Champs
News from the FIVB

Brno, Czech Republic, June 24, 2013. The 2012 European champions of Turkey are – together with Brazil and China – the sole side with an impeccable record of three wins in as many matches at the 2013 FIVB Women’s U20 World Championship in Brno after four days of preliminary action are completed. On Monday the players mentored by head coach Gökhan Edman swept Egypt in straight sets being emulated by Italy that did need only 56 minutes to cruise past Algeria in three sets as well.
The USA claimed their first victory in the competition as they defeated Mexico 3-1 in Monday’s much-awaited NORCECA duel. Brazil (3-0 record) continued their winning streak by overpowering Russia 3-1 in the second match on schedule for Pool C.
Host Czech Republic could not benefit from the help of the 2,850 fans cheering for the local heroines. On Monday evening World No. 10 Peru took advantage of Czech Republic’s 34 unforced errors to clinch a straight-set win in Pool A. In the second Pool A clash, the Dominican Republic continued their run at the Women’s U20 World Champs by overpowering Chinese Taipei 3-2.
In Pool B, China romped past Thailand 3-0 on Monday for their third consecutive straight-set win, while Thailand lost all their three matches at the tournament so far. In the second Pool B match, Serbia got to fight till the end with a gritty Japan (3-2).
