Spanish Volleyball honors the memory of Ingrid Visser

Barcelona, Spain, June 21, 2013. Spain’s Volleyball family honored the memory of Dutch international player Ingrid Visser during the first day of European League action in Barcelona on Friday. The Dutch player, who recently passed away together with her partner Lodewijk Severein, received a heartfelt tribute by all Spanish Volleyball fans who attended the match starring Spain and Montenegro for the second round of play in Pool B.
The public present at Palau D’Esports Olimpic Vall D’Hebron in Barcelona observed a sincere moment of silence before the start of the game as recognition to the beloved Dutch middle-blocker. Ingrid Visser tragically passed away last month in the Spanish city of Murcia. The Dutch legend was an adored athlete in Spain, where she had played for eight seasons and in three different clubs. Her outstanding personality, her candor and her sensational performances turned Visser into an admired star, equally worshiped by teammates and fans.
Her tragic decease came as a painful shock to Spanish Volleyball, and the tribute that was paid to her memory this Friday represents an affectionate appreciation of the unforgettable mark she left in this country. Ingrid Visser will always live in the hearts of all Spanish Volleyball fans.
