Vienna, Austria, June 18, 2013. The media registration for the real highlight of the summer season, i.e. the 2013 CEV A1 Beach Volleyball European Championship Final scheduled for July 30-August 4 in Klagenfurt, is open. All journalists and media that are planning to attend the unique Beach Volleyball fiesta to be held there on the banks of the Wörthersee are kindly invited to apply for accreditation by returning the form that is available at the bottom of this news, doing so by July 5 at the very latest. All media will receive a confirmation of their accreditation by July 19 at the latest.
Some 40 media – mostly from German-speaking countries – have already applied for their accreditation and many more are supposed to follow in the coming days and weeks. In Klagenfurt, the real Europe’s Beach Volleyball “Mecca”, 32 teams per gender will embark on a quest for European glory. Latvia’s Janis Smedins/Aleksandrs Samoilovs, Austria’s sensation of the year Alexander Huber/Robin Seidl, Italy’s Daniele Lupo/Paolo Nicolai and Poland’s Mariusz Prudel and Grzegorz Fijalek are among the top contenders for the medals. In the women’s tournament, Doris and Stefanie Schwaiger will carry the hopes of the host country and try to stand the competition brought by reigning European champions Marleen van Iersel/Sanne Keizer (NED), their up-and-coming compatriots Sophie van Gestel and Madelein Meppelink, Germany’s Katrin Holtwick/Ilka Semmler and Italy’s 2011 European champions Greta Cicolari and Marta Menegatti.
