CEV President attends European Team Sports meeting in Paris
News from the CEV

Paris, France, June 11, 2013. To follow up on the meetings held the past few years, the members of the European Team Sports Association got together on Tuesday in Paris to strengthen their cooperation for the good of team sports across Europe. CEV President André Meyer was there together with his colleagues from FIBA Europe (basketball), EHF (handball), IIHF (ice hockey), and FIRA-AER (rugby) in order to discuss a series of items that all sports are being confronted by.
The agenda included a series of topics that the European Union is currently dealing with too (such as match fixing, the role of players’ agents, gambling etc.) and all team sports have to respond to. The representatives of the various federations did also discuss the preparations for the inaugural European Games that are set to take place in 2015 in Baku, Azerbaijan, and whose program is being shaped as well as the Olympic qualification process leading up to the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro. Moreover, all team sports found a consensus on the necessity to promote and support the role and involvement of women in their respective disciplines while agreeing also on the need to organize seminars and workshops whereby the ETS members are likely to share their expertise and knowledge for the benefit of all those working for the good of the sport.
