“Our Volleyball family is more united than ever” CEV President says
News from the CEV

Luxembourg, May 6, 2013. “We can proudly look back at the past weekend where our Volleyball family got together here in Luxembourg for the fortieth anniversary of our Confederation thereby showing its cohesion, unity and determination to work hard for the good of Volleyball also in the years to come” CEV President André Meyer says as he shares some impressions from the past couple of days.

“I am particularly happy with the team spirit I got to feel through the weekend” he continues. “By celebrating our fortieth anniversary we have re-asserted values such as team work, loyalty and dedication. These values will be our northern star, our main reference for the future and are shared by all our members and partners. We had some emotional moments especially as we paid tribute to the vision and work of our forefathers. On the other hand, we are ready to take up the challenges ahead and can’t wait to continue our Volleyball journey” Mr. Meyer stresses.

Europe’s Volleyball family was joined this past weekend also by FIVB President Dr. Ary S. Graça F° who enjoyed the opportunity to share once more his vision and to invite Europe to share its knowledge and experience with all other Confederations for the good of the sport. “We were evidently honoured to have the FIVB President among our guests” Mr. Meyer says. “This clearly testifies that our institutions are ready to join forces to support the development of Volleyball and Beach Volleyball on the global stage. That said, I am also very grateful to the local authorities of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg for they also joined us for the opening of our state-of-the-art premises. This weekend we hosted the Minister of the Economy, the Minister for Sport as well as the President of the National Olympic Committee. This confirms the respect that our Confederation enjoys here in the Grand Duchy. This connection will be strengthened after the decision to buy our premises in Luxembourg City and to opt for a long-term settlement in this country”.

The inauguration of the modern and exclusive premises owned by CEV in the capital city of the Grand Duchy remains one of the major highlights of the past weekend. “Volleyball finally has got its real home, a place where everyone who is involved in the sport can come, feel at home and where to enjoy excellent working conditions. The premises reflect our soul and spirit as, 40 years after CEV was born, we want to stay loyal to our values and – at the same time – to look for innovative solutions and concepts whereby the development of our sport will continue also in the next four decades” Mr. Meyer concludes.
