Volleyball family out to discover unique beauty of Moselle valley
News from the CEV

Luxembourg, May 4, 2013. Waiting for the second highlight of the day, the special gala which is set to commemorate the CEV fortieth anniversary at Neumünster Abbey in Luxembourg downtown, Europe’s Volleyball family could not ask for a lovelier day to enjoy the beauty of the Moselle River and its surroundings.
On board the MS “Princesse Marie-Astrid” CEV President André Meyer, accompanied by FIVB President Dr. Ary S. Graça F°, the CEV Board members as well as by the Chairs of 41 national federations got the unique opportunity to discover the lovely Moselle valley from a completely new perspective. Built in 2010 for some 500 passengers (220 can stay below deck), this majestic and luxurious boat reminds of the famous long liners of the past. While enjoying the excellent cuisine on board, the passengers could see vineyards, picturesque villages, gentle hills and woods slowly move by.
As Europe’s Volleyball family is somehow witnessing history in its making this weekend here in the Grand Duchy, a predecessor of the current “Princesse Marie-Astrid” boat had also turned into the witness of historic facts for the Schengen agreements for the creation of a borderless area within Europe were signed on board of that vessel in 1985 and 1990 respectively.
