CEV and Zonal Associations to strenghten their ties
News from the CEV
Luxembourg, May 3, 2013. On Friday morning CEV President André Meyer chaired a meeting whereby representatives of the four Zonal Associations (BVA, EEVZA, MEVZA, and NEVZA) plus the Small Countries Division got together to review their work in the past months. The meeting was also attended by CEV Senior Vice President Aleksandar Boricic and CEV Vice President Jan Hronek.
The CEV President used this opportunity to praise the work of the Zonal Associations but also insisted on the necessity to devote even more energy and attention to an extensive promotion of the sport at grassroots level. “The mission of the Zonal Associations is to help our youth get to feel and enjoy the spirit of Volleyball and Beach Volleyball. In this sense, their efforts to held Championships open to various age groups are much appreciated” Mr. Meyer said. “On the other hand, and this is even more significant by the time our Confederation is just about to celebrate its fortieth anniversary, we need to strengthen our ties thereby making sure that the Zonal Associations and the Small Countries Division will be profiting of the assistance and support provided by our headquarters here in Luxembourg City”.
The representatives of the Zonal Associations and the SCD provided CEV with a review of their activities thereby following up on the very encouraging and interesting presentations they had delivered this past November while attending the XXXIII CEV General Assembly that was also held in Luxembourg City. “I would like to invite the Zonal Associations and the SCD to provide more feeds about their work which needs to be showcased also on the CEV website” Mr. Meyer stressed. “This is a good way to show that our Volleyball family is active and well-motivated to pursue that process of growth and development of our sport that we all long for” he concluded.
