Arkas IZMIR wins third title in Turkey's national league

Istanbul, Turkey, April 30, 2013. After making the Playoffs 6 of the 2013 CEV Volleyball Champions League losing there to Poland’s Zaksa KEDZIERZYN-KOZLE, Arkas IZMIR capped off their season by claiming their third title in Turkey’s national league sponsored by Acibadem.
Arkas did so by finishing the Championship series with the winner of the 2013 CEV Volleyball Cup, Halkbank ANKARA, via their fourth clash played on Monday, April 29, at “Atatürk” sports hall in Izmir. Arkas needed only 83 minutes of play to see off their opponents from Turkey’s capital city in straight sets (25-22, 25-16, and 25-18) and retain their title from last year.
The President of the Turkish Volleyball Federation, Özkan Mutlugil, and Mr. Emin Bas – on behalf of title sponsor Acibadem Hospitals Group – presented the trophy for the winning side to the team captain of Arkas IZMIR, Bülent Kandemir. The gold medals were handed over by the two Vice Presidents of the Turkish Volleyball Federation, Mr. Mehmet Akif Üstündag and Mr. Mustafa Eksi. The silver medals were presented to the runner-up by TVF Board member Ahmet Göksu and by Mr. Metin Kaplan, Director of Youth and Sports in the Izmir Province.
The Colombian-born superstar of Arkas IZMIR, Liberman Agamez, was voted MVP of this year’s national league.
