Memorial Krivova to pay tribute to Deni 5 years after premature death
News from the National Federations
Luxembourg, April 30, 2013. Some 5 years after her premature death, the local Volleyball family in Luxembourg will be paying their tribute to the late Denitza Krivova with a friendly match scheduled for this coming May 4 and where Luxembourg women’s national team will cross their ways with France’s TFOC Volley-ball.
Once more some of Deni’s friends and teammates will be coming together to commemorate one of the most talented Volleyball players the Grand Duchy did see in action in recent times. Though born in Bulgaria, Deni had moved to Luxembourg along with her parents, Ranguel and Antonia, who were both competitive Volleyball players. A member of the senior and junior national team, Denitza passed away on April 26, 2008 in a car accident as she was driving home. By then Denitza was barely 18 and only a few weeks before that tragedy she had anchored Luxembourg junior national team on their way to a gold medal at the European Championship for the Small Countries Division held in Schaan, Liechtenstein.
After last year’s “Memorial Krivova” had taken place in Luxembourg City, this time the young “lionesses” from the Grand Duchy will be hosted by their French opponents at Hayange with the match taking place in the local sports hall which is named after another sportswoman who prematurely passed away in 2001, alpine ski racer Régine Cavagnoud. The Volleyball club from Terville (FRA) is the side Deni was playing for by the time she passed away.
