Olympiacos wins women's national league for first time ever
News from the National Federations
Piraeus, Greece, April 10, 2013. Olympiacos PIRAEUS beat A.E.K. ATHENS 3:1 (25-21, 20-25, 26-24, and 25-20) to win Greece’s national league for the first time in their history. Though they had suffered a couple of defeats to A.E.K. ATHENS in the regular season the players of Olympiacos showed composure and determination in the final game played in Athens and where A.E.K. enjoyed the loud support of their fans.
This game – where all players played with glowing hearts – did definitely cap the season in a very good way. The cup for the winning side will be presented in the next days by the Hellenic Volleyball Federation. Olympiacos and A.E.K. will most probably cross their ways once more in a couple of days as the domestic season is coming to an end with the final four of the Greek national cup, where they will be joined also by Iraklis KIFISIA and Filathlitikos LARISSA. The semis and finals of that competition are scheduled for April 12-13 in Santorini.
