Volleyball get-together to run in conjunction with EuroVolley final weekend in Copenhagen
2013 CEV VELUX Volleyball European Championship - Men

Copenhagen, Denmark, April 9, 2013. The 2013 CEV VELUX Volleyball European Championship – Men are much more than an elite competition, as they shall attract as many people as possible – especially those who are not every-day followers of the sport – to join a special tournament which is open to everyone, regardless of their skills and physical abilities.
The top four teams in Europe will be getting together this coming September 28-29 at Parken for the final weekend of the Championship fighting for the medals there. Right next to the national stadium, venue of semis and finals, about 50 Volleyball courts will be set up at “Fælledparken” where amateur players of any age, level and nationality will be joining a real Volleyball festival for free.

“EuroVolley2013 is not just a championship for the elite. We would like to invite all Volleyball fans to be part of the party that this year’s championship hopefully is going to be. We are organizing a lot of side events in Denmark, and one of them is this unique Volleyball get-together in Copenhagen, where everybody will be eligible to participate. The idea is that you have fun playing some friendly matches and afterwards walk 100 meters to Parken and watch the big stars of the sport compete for the gold medal” says the Managing Director of the local Organizing Committee, Mads Bang Aaen. “We hope that fans from all of the 27 countries that have bought tickets to for the final weekend so far will participate teaming up with friends, teammates or family members to test out their own skills before crossing the road to Parken and watching the professional players there” says Mr. Aaen.

The tournament in Fælledparken will start at 11 am both Saturday and Sunday. So there is plenty of time to play and walk the 100 meters to Parken afterwards. On Saturday, September 28, the semis are scheduled for 3 and 6 pm local time, while the classification match and the gold medal match will follow on Sunday, September 29, starting once more at 3 and 6 pm respectively.
