Tauron MKS and Impel share victories in first round of Poland's Playoffs

Dabrowa Gornicza, Poland, March 18, 2013. Tauron MKS DABROWA GORNICZA and Impel WROCLAW shared wins in the first couple of matches scheduled for the Playoffs of Poland women’s national league. After losing in straight sets (24-26, 20-25, and 11-25) the first game, Tauron MKS fought their way back downing their opponents in three sets too (25-16, 25-20, and 25-22).
The matches played at Centrum sports hall were preceded by videos showing the major highlights of the national cup finals where Tauron MKS had claimed the trophy for the second consecutive year. The fans did adopt a special make-up featuring the corporate colors of the club while special contests were held for those having a seasonal ticket with the possibility to win a t-shirt autographed by one of the players included on the roster of Tauron MKS. As for the children, they could test their skills by playing Volleyball on Xbox using a special software that synchronizes voice and movements.
Impel played superbly to claim the first match on Saturday opening by seizing the first set (26-24); Tauron MKS led the way for most of the second set but eventually lost it while Impel – mentored by Norwegian head coach Tore Aleksandersen – showed off their strength in set 3 going for an impressive 25-11. „We need to improve on our reception and get rid of all these mistakes. If we change this, we can win the next matches” said Tauron MKS spiker Elzbieta Skowronska after the game.
In the second game Tauron MKS displayed a totally different quality and dominated the scene from the start up to the end. „We would like to say that we are sorry for our defeat but this belongs to the past” Tauron MKS team captain Magdalena Sliwa said after Sunday’s victory. „I am very happy with the result and this is a small step forward along the way to the final. We now feel a little bit more confident”.
