CSKA-Demax SOFIA wins Bulgaria women's national cup

Sofia, Bulgaria, March 7, 2013. The city of Kazanluk played host through February 26-March 2 to Bulgaria women’s national cup and it was actually the first time the tournament was held in this charming city. A total of seven teams participated in the competition with CSKA-Demax SOFIA seizing the trophy after edging in the final match the hosts of KAZANLUK at the end of a five-set battle (17-25, 17-25, 25-19, 28-26, and 15-13).
The tournament got started with a preliminary phase where the seven entries – CSKA-Demax, Maritza, Slavia-SU, Levski Volley, Kazanluk, Fenix-09 and Spartak 1996 – were subdivided into two groups. The final match was played on Saturday, March 2, with the girls dressed in red jerseys claiming Bulgaria’s national cup for the seventeenth time in their already glorious history.
Slavina Koleva – who defended there the likes of KAZANLUK – was awarded MVP of the final with the special trophy being presented to the 26-year old spiker by the Secretary General of the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation, Mr. Stanislav Nikolov.
