Mariola Zenik believes in Atom chances to stop Turkey's giant
News from the clubs

Sopot, Poland, January 23, 2013. Atom Trefl SOPOT has embarked on what sounds like a mission impossible, i.e. to stop the winning streak of Vakifbank ISTANBUL after twenty consecutive matches as on Thursday they play in Turkey’s megalopolis the return game for the Playoffs 12 of the 2013 CEV Volleyball Champions League – Women.
“We strongly believe we can succeed in doing this” says libero Mariola Zenik. Atom Trefl lost 1:3 last week in Poland but could play at eye level with the formidable side from Turkey. “However, we were not patient enough and did not play with the necessary accuracy especially as it was easy to score the point. Our serve was also bad especially in the third set” stresses captain Izabela Belcik.
Even though they failed to cause a sensation at Ergo Arena, the players of Atom did not lose their focus and eventually claimed their last match in the national league by edging PTPS PILA with the score of 3:1 this past weekend. In order to minimize the effects of the jet lag SOPOT traveled to Istanbul already on Tuesday. “We are in good shape and our journey went well. Today we had a video session and our staff showed some info about Vakifbank as well as tactics for our game” adds Zenik. “If we win the second match we’ll play the golden set and it would be a kind of lottery where everything is possible. The serve is the key as we can score quite many points via this fundamental” she stresses. “We already showed in Sopot that we can fight and now we want to play even better” concludes the Polish libero.
