Youth European Champs get officially started with DOL in Beograd
2013 CEV Youth Volleyball European Championship - Boys & Girls
Beograd, Serbia, January 18, 2013. The Drawing of Lots for the final round of the 2013 CEV Youth Volleyball European Championship – Boys & Girls was completed on Friday at “Metropol Palace” hotel in Serbia’s capital city with a series of prominent guests – including CEV Senior Vice President and Volleyball Federation of Serbia chairman Aleksandar Boricic, CEV Vice President and Jury President for the girls’ competition Jan Hronek, Serbia’s Sports and Youth Minister Alisa Maric and the Minister of Sport of the Republika Srpska, Nada Tesanovic – in attendance. The three hosting countries – Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia & Herzegovina – were all represented by their respective highest Volleyball authorities - including the Presidents of the Volleyball Federations of Montenegro, Cvetko Pajkovic, and Bosnia & Herzegovina, Luka Juric - and many media were also there for what was the official kick-off of the X European Championship for this age group.
The participating teams were drawn to the preliminary groups by the captains of Serbia’s youth national teams who were joined on stage by a couple of real Volleyball legends, namely 2000 Olympic champions Vladimir Grbic and Igor Vusurovic. The DOL was performed under the supervision of ESOC Coordinator Willy Bruninx and the teams were drawn by making sure that sides coming from the same qualification tournament were not going to cross their ways once more right from the start of the final round.
The 12 teams qualified for the final round of the girls’ Championship set to run through March 29-April 7 in Bar (MNE) and Kladovo (SRB) were drawn as follows:
Pool I in Bar: Montenegro, Slovenia, Poland, Italy, Greece and Czech Republic
Pool II in Kladovo: Serbia, Turkey, France, Germany, Netherlands and Russia
The 12 teams set to compete in Laktasi (BIH) and Beograd (SRB) through April 12-21 for what will be the tenth edition of the Youth Volleyball European Championship - Boys were drawn as follows:
Pool I in Laktasi: Bosnia & Herzegovina, Italy, Poland, Belgium, Austria and Slovenia
Pool II in Beograd: Serbia, Turkey, Russia, France, Bulgaria and Finland
In each gender the top six will eventually qualify for the 2013 FIVB Youth World Championship that are scheduled for later this summer in Tijuana & Mexicali (MEX, boys, June 27-July 7) and in Nakhon Ratchasima (THA, girls, July 5-14).
