Noliko MAASEIK prepares for Playoffs by playing team of former head coach
News from the clubs
Maaseik, Belgium, January 9, 2013. As they are intensively preparing for their much awaited clash with Poland’s Zaksa KEDZIERZYN-KOZLE coming up next week for the Playoffs 12 of the 2013 CEV Volleyball Champions League, the players of Noliko MAASEIK recently got to test the likes of the side that is mentored by their former head coach Vital Heynen, i.e. Ziraat Bankasi ANKARA.
The club from Turkey’s capital city had traveled to Maaseik to spend a week there enjoying the splendid facilities provided by the local “Lotto Dôme”. “This was a very good opportunity to create the right team spirit” says Heynen. “We have added two experienced players to our roster, namely setter Adriano from Brazil and Cuban spiker Yosleyder Cala Gerardo, and this week will be used to complete their integration into the group”.
“Next week we’ll have a tremendous challenge in Poland, so to play friendly matches like this with Ziraat Bankasi is very beneficial for all of us” adds Noliko mentor Brecht Van Kerckhove. “It is also very nice to get to meet Vital and his guys”.
Noliko started out strong by claiming the first two sets with the score of 25-14 and 25-21, before the guests eventually responded in set 3 going up by 5 points (13:18). However, Noliko got back on track and after drawing level, flipped the charts around to claim a 3:0 win (25-21).
