BUSTO ARSIZIO scores third win to delight massive home audience
2013 CEV Volleyball Champions League - Women

Busto Arsizio, Italy, November 22, 2012. Unendo Yamamay BUSTO ARSIZIO of Italy claimed on Thursday evening its third win in the prelims of the CEV Volleyball Champions League by downing France’s ASPTT MULHOUSE in straight sets (25-13, 25-20, and 25-17). With this result Italy’s national champions are ranked second in Pool C with nine points after four rounds of play, with Turkey’s Galatasaray Daikin ISTANBUL on top of the tables with ten.
ASPTT MULHOUSE was missing its captain Anna Rybaczewski and hence could not fight on equal terms with the hosts even though Iuliia Ferulik and Alexia Djilali played quite well for the team from Alsace. Still the local heroines captained by Christina Bauer showed great Volleyball and did so especially in the key moments of each set. Middle blocker Valentina Arrighetti could eventually top the charts of the best scorers with 12 points, the same haul registered by Bauer, while Tatjana Bokan paced ASPTT MULHOUSE with 14.

Unendo Yamamay BUSTO ARSIZIO dominated the scene in the opening set with the attacks by Juliann Faucette and the blocks by Arrighetti (25-13); in the second the hosts trailed for a while in the score but they eventually fought their way back with 2 aces by Margareta Kozuch and 4 points contributed by Francesca Marcon. Carli Lloyd closed the set with two blocks (25-20) with libero Giulia Leonardi playing very solid in defense. Arrighetti and Bauer stood out for the home side in set 3 and even though Bokan played really good, ASPTT MULHOUSE eventually surrendered in straight sets.

“We lost concentration in the second set, so we have to work on this and stay focused all the way through our matches” said home captain Christina Bauer after the game. “The result does not really reflect the real plot of the game as we had many ups and downs. I want my players to give their 100% in their next match of the national league against PIACENZA” said head coach Carlo Parisi.
“I think Unendo Yamamay is a great team. I wish them to continue this way and play a great game in Istanbul with Galatasaray. After this defeat it will be very difficult for us to qualify for the Playoffs 12” stressed ASPTT MULHOUSE coach Magali Magail. “Our opponents deserved to win. We tried to play a good match but we missed a lot the help and contribution of our captain Anna Rybaczewski” said Armelle Faesch.
