Hartberg turns into Beach Volleyball Mecca for the next four days
2012 CEV U20 Beach Volleyball European Championship

Hartberg, Austria, August 15, 2012. All teams have arrived in Hartberg, the city playing host to the 2012 CEV U20 European Beach Volleyball Championship, and are absolutely excited about the beginning of the tournament. Everything is perfectly set up and there is much excitement in the air.
Seven hotels around Hartberg are hosting the players and coaches and make a lot of effort to satisfy their guests. Many teams enjoyed their first training session in one of the four courts and all are impressed by the conditions set up in Hartberg, a town with only 6,500 inhabitants.
Traditionally the fans in Hartberg are really into Beach Volleyball, so a breathtaking atmosphere is guaranteed. Everyone in the region wishes this event to turn into a major success.
Due to the fact that the tournament is played in a pool system in the first phase, a Drawing of Lots was held on Wednesday evening. Six groups each with four teams were composed for the men’s as well as for the women’s tournament.
The local heroines Katharina Schützenhöfer and Lena Plesiutschnig will play teams from Israel, Lithuania and Slovenia. Austria’s second pair, Nadine Strauss/Teresa Strauss, will fight against duos from Poland, Italy and France.
In the men’s tournament both Austrian teams are set to play opponents from Germany. Austria 1 (Lorenz Petutschnig/Tobias Winter) additionally takes on teams from Israel and Greece while Austria 2 (Anton Menner/Martin Ermacora) was assigned to play duos from France and Croatia as well.

The Technical Meeting was held at Hartberghalle on Wednesday evening (see picture); CEV Technical Supervisor Henrique Gomes welcomed all teams that will take part in the tournament and briefed the audience with some more useful information. The OC and the CEV Delegates are really looking forward to the start of the event and hope that everyone will enjoy the tournament which starts with pool matches on Thursday.
