Splendid scenario will host U20 Championship in Hartberg
2012 CEV U20 Beach Volleyball European Championship

Hartberg, Austria, August 10, 2012. Everything is ready in Hartberg for the start of the 2012 CEV U20 Beach Volleyball European Championship. The set-up of the magnificent center court (see picture) is completed and the venue will be tested with the traditional ARGE trophy, an amateur competition joined by 28 regional teams.
The official speaker of the Championship, Markus Hollerit, and his team will fire up the audience and accompany the actions of the players throughout the ARGE tournament and the U20 European Championship.
A total of 48 teams representing 26 nations will compete in Hartberg and fight for the title. The Austrian pairs are currently fine-tuning their preparations via the CEV Satellite tournament in Vaduz.
Last year’s U20 gold medalists Katharina Schützenhöfer/Lena Plesiutschnig lost their first match in the Main Draw there against Slovenia’s Andreja Vodeb/Simona Fabjan. On Friday they were edged by their compatriots Barbara Hansel/Magdalena Jirak in an all-Austrian game in two straight sets and finished the tournament in ninth place.
The second Austrian pair set to compete at the U20 European Championship in the women’s division, Nadine Strauss/Teresa Strauss, did not advance to the Main Draw in Vaduz losing their qualification match to Mersmann/Tillmann of Germany, but still got some valuable experience from an international tournament.
Local hero Lorenz Petutschnig teamed up with Tobias Winter for the CEV Satellite in Vaduz eventually losing the second match in the Qualification against Matteo Galli/Matteo Cecchini (ITA), but still confirmed his talent and potential for the upcoming competition in Hartberg.
