Last year's winners return to Vaduz to defend their titles at local CEV Satellite tournament
CEV Beach Volleyball Challenger & Satellites
Vaduz, Liechtenstein, August 7, 2012. Starting from Wednesday the capital city of Liechtenstein, Vaduz, will play host, for the eighth consecutive year, to a Satellite tournament that is set to be joined by some of the finest Beach Volleyball duos in Europe. The centre court was set up in the main square of the tiny city right in front of the Town Hall, and as long as all entries are confirmed, the women’s tournament is set to start on Wednesday morning.
Last year’s winners from Switzerland, Romana Kayser and Tanja Goricanec, are once again included in the starting field but will be competing with different partners. Top actions will highlight also the men’s tournament with the Dutch up-and-coming duo and 2011 winners, Alexander Brouwer/Robert Meeuwsen, going for back-to-back titles in Vaduz.
The men’s tournament will start on Thursday with the qualification matches taking place in the second venue that was arranged right next to the local “Rheinpark” stadium.
The host nation will be represented once again by vets Petra Schifferle-Walser/Ramona Keiser and Manuel Gahr/Maximilian von Deichmann. The campaign of the local duos is set to commence on Thursday and Friday respectively, with the goal to claim at least one win in front of the home audience.
A DJ and a group of cheerleaders will fire up the audience and accompany the actions of the players throughout the next five days. Entrance to the venues of the CEV Satellite in Vaduz will be, as usual, free of charge.
