Russian duo wins fourth stop of EEVZA Tour in Riga
News from the Zonal Associations

Riga, Latvia, July 23, 2012. The fourth stop of the EEVZA Beach Volleyball Tour was held this past weekend in Latvia’s capital city and namely hosted by the premises of the “Brazilija” sports center. In a remake of last year’s tournament, a duo from Russia finished atop of the charts while two pairs of Latvia settled for silver and bronze respectively.
Russia’s Aleksander Kullo/Sergey Alfimov edged Toms Smedins/Aleksander Solovejs in the final match of a tournament that was once again combined with the traditional Zelta Open. The final score (12-21, 21-19, 16-14) clearly reflects the very close battle that unfolded in the last and deciding act of the competition. Klavs Zalkalns/Arturs Kiselevs of Latvia claimed the bronze medal after edging, as they had done also last year, Maksim Petrov/Valeri Aleksejev of Estonia in straight sets.
The next and final stage of the EEVZA Tour is scheduled for August 23-26 and will take place in Zelenogradsk, Russia.
