News from the Zonal Associations

Riga, Latvia, July 17, 2012. The fourth stop of the EEVZA Beach Volleyball Tour – combined with the traditional Zelta Open – will take place this coming weekend in Riga. The event will be hosted by the splendid premises of the “Brazilija” sports center, the largest facility for beach sports in the country.
A total of 34 duos have registered for the tournament, a single-gender competition only for men, with Russia being represented by 7 pairs, Latvia lining up a total of 20, while Estonia and Ukraine will join the competition with 2 teams each. The starting field is completed by 3 duos from the Republic of Belarus. Some of the best Beach Volleyball players from the member countries of the Eastern European Volleyball Zonal Association (EEVZA) will be in action there in Riga.
Last year Russia’s Evgeny Romashkin and Maksim Khudyakov had topped the charts of the Zelta Open, while Latvia’s Haralds Regza/Armands Abolins and Arturs Kiselevs/Klavs Zalkalns finished second and third respectively.
