Aneta Havlickova, a perfect end for a memorable season
2012 CEV Volleyball European League - Women
Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic, July 6, 2012. The 2012 edition of the CEV Volleyball European League – Women confirmed the star status of Czech heroine Aneta Havlickova. The Czech opposite was awarded MVP of the final four held in Karlovy Vary and earned a recognition that constitutes the grand finale of an outstanding season for the 25-year old player.
It has been a memorable season for Aneta Havlickova. The player born in Mlada Boleslav completed a perfect term with the Italian team of Yamamay BUSTO ARSIZIO, signing an unforgettable period in which she swept all domestic competitions – National League, National Cup and Supercup – as well as the CEV Cup. Havlickova played a fundamental role in the victorious path of the Italian side to win all the possible tournaments this year, becoming one of the main references of the offensive system in the squad from Busto Arsizio.
“This year has been perfect for me; so many good things have happened to me and I can say that it has been the dream year; I feel very grateful for it”, said Havlickova.
In the international season, Havlickova reunited with her club head coach, Carlo Parisi, as the experienced Italian shares his coaching role in Yamamay BUSTO ARSIZIO with the Czech women's national team; two outstanding characters teaming up to lead the Czechs to a historic triumph.
“What can I say? I feel very proud of her. She is a great professional and always gives her maximum in everything she does; I feel very proud to have her in my teams”, pointed out head coach Carlo Parisi.
As a matter of fact, the association proved to be magical for the Czechs, since the national squad won its first title in CEV Volleyball European League. The Czech Republic beat Bulgaria in a spectacular final held in Karlovy Vary and claimed the title. It was an outstanding moment for Czech Volleyball, as well as the ultimate coronation of Aneta Havlickova as one of the main rising stars in Europe.
“For me, it is important that we play as a team. I am happy with the way I have performed in this tournament but if we do not play together, we have nothing”, pointed out the opposite player.
The attacker was the offensive leader of her team and signed 48 points in the two days of the Final Four, finishing the 2012 CEV Volleyball European League with a total of 195 points, the third best scorer in the competition.
Havlickova received the award of MVP for her outstanding contribution and direction in the performance of her team to victory. It is another recognition for an athlete that has become, in her 5 years with the national team, the biggest sensation of women’s Czech Volleyball.
“Winning the MVP is very nice, I admit it, but for me it is more important to have my teammates; without them, I can accomplish nothing!”, admits Havlickova, who celebrated her 25th birthday two days before the start of the Final Four.
Indeed, Havlickova adds the CEV European League crown and the MVP to her impressive tally, as she has received the 2011 Czech player of the year, 2012 CEV Volleyball Cup MVP, 2009 Best Attacker and Best Scorer in the Dutch league and 2008 MVP of the Czech League, among others.
The 25-year old player only has a desire for the next season: “I hope I can play more like this!”, said Havlickova, “I wish that I continue being lucky enough to keep on playing as I have done this year, that I do not get injured, that the future brings me more happiness!”, pointed out the player who next year will join the ranks of Lokomotiv BAKU.
